Website Positioning for Service Businesses: Your Site Is an Argument
A service business website has one job: argue convincingly that you are the right choice. Most never make the argument.
The brochure fallacy
Most service websites are digital brochures: who we are, what we do, contact us. But customers do not need a brochure — they need a decision made easier. Every page should function as part of an argument: here is your problem, here is why it matters, here is why we solve it better, here is proof, here is the next step.
Structure is strategy
The pages you have — and do not have — announce your positioning. No dedicated page for your most profitable service means, to both Google and customers, that it is not really your specialty. Site architecture should mirror the business you want, not the org chart you have.
Write for the anxious visitor
Service customers arrive worried: about cost, about being ripped off, about picking wrong. Pages that name those worries and answer them honestly — realistic pricing logic, process transparency, real proof — convert the customers everyone else scares away.
